7 Surprising Habits That Could Slash Your Dementia Risk

A new study published in JAMA Network Open found that adopting seven heart-healthy habits can significantly lower the risk of dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases. The study examined over 1,000 adults, focusing on their adherence to habits like eating a balanced diet, staying physically active, maintaining a healthy weight, and managing blood pressure and cholesterol. The researchers found that those who followed these habits had 19% lower levels of neurofilament light chain (NfL), a biomarker associated with neurodegeneration. This suggests that a healthy lifestyle can help reduce the biological markers of dementia and improve cognitive health. However, more research is needed to fully understand the relationship between cardiovascular health and brain health.

Healthy Fact of the Day: Stretching regularly can improve flexibility, reduce muscle tension, and enhance posture. It also increases blood flow to your muscles, which can help reduce soreness and improve overall mobility. Incorporating stretching into your daily routine, even for just a few minutes, can boost energy levels and support long-term joint and muscle health.
